Our Belief System
We believe, as Christians have believed for almost 2,000 years, that the Bible is God’s holy, infallible, and inerrant Word. Holy Scripture is always the highest authority in our lives. The Bible contains all things necessary for our salvation.
In the early life of the Church catholic (God’s Universal Church) leaders in the Church formulated three creeds from what they learned studying the Bible. These three Ancient Creeds formulated the belief system for all Christians for over 1,000 years, before the Roman Church fell into error. The determination of the reformers in the Reformation period was to get back to the original meaning of the Bible and the Church. Because we are Protestant and Reformed our belief system is that of the ancient Church. We hold to these ancient creeds as statements of our faith. These creeds are the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.
*Please note that the words holy Catholic Church in the creeds refer to the God’s Universal Church (church of all believers), not the Roman Catholic Church.
Apostles’ Creed
I BELIEVE in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven
and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered
under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried, He
descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the
dead, He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right
hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall
come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Catholic Church;
The Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body; And the Life everlasting. Amen.
